Grandview Church - Children & Youth Registration 2026/27

Hello families!

Between September 1, 2026 and August 31, 2027, Grandview Church offers Children & Youth Ministry for children ages 1-18, including:

Sundays during the 10:30am worship service:

Toddler care
Children's classes for ages 3 through K (Godly Play)
Grades 1-4
Grades 5-7
Youth class for grades 8-12

Youth Gathering: Fridays 6:30-9:30pm and occasional half-day Saturdays

For grades 8-12

Occasional gatherings: such as choir practices, small groups, youth mentoring, rehearsals for church presentations such as Christmas Eve and Easter, and special events that may be on other times/days of the week. The Youth and Children's Pastors will communicate with parents about these gatherings ahead of time.

LEADING with CARE

These classes, gatherings and events will occur in the Grandview Church building, 1803 East 1st Ave, Vancouver, unless otherwise indicated, and will be supervised by a minimum of two trained, approved Grandview Church ministry personnel. For one-on-one youth mentoring, the meetings will happen with the youth and Youth Pastor in a public setting.

The Grandview Leading with Care (Protection Plan) policy and procedures are closely followed, including registration, attendance, supervision ratios, and consent forms.

REGISTRATION FORM DUE AUGUST 30th

Filling out this form registers your child/children in the upcoming 2026/2027 season of Children & Youth Ministry in Grandview Church. It also provides us with the information we need to plan for the year and run safe programs. Please complete your registration form no later than August 30, 2026.

A copy of the completed form will be sent to the email address you've provided below so that you'll have all the key information.

Information received is confidential and is being gathered and stored according to the guidelines set out in the Grandview Church Protection Plan and in the federal Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). All information will be used only for the running of Grandview's Children & Youth Ministries and will be kept confidential.

Toddlers

The Toddler Room is supervised by ministry personnel on 'Focus Sundays' (usually 2-3 Sundays per month). Parents are welcome to sign in and drop off toddlers who are walking through age 2 on these Focus Sundays.

On other Sundays, the Toddler Room is parent minded, and parents/guardians must stay with their toddlers.

Ministry Personnel do not do toileting of toddlers, so will come and get you if your child needs a diaper change or needs to use the washroom.

We ask for permission to use your child's photo(s) and/or quotes in the following contexts:

A) In the Grandview Church 2026 Annual Report (digital and print copies)
B) In on-site/in person displays and presentations
C) On the Grandview Church website and other promotional material.

Off-site Trips (Gr 1-7)

We require your permission prior to your child/children's participation in Children & Youth Ministry offsite trips. Please ensure that your child/children are adequately dressed for outdoor activities in rain or shine. The safety of your child/children is our primary concern. Precautions will be taken for their well-being and protection.

In the sections below, we have provided you the details of the trips and request that you indicate which offsite trips you give consent for your child/children to participate in.

* Offsite trips to Victoria Park Details: Location: Victoria Park, 1425 Victoria Drive, Vancouver Dates: During some 2026/27 Children's Ministry sessions on Sundays between 10:30am-12:30pm Time: for 30-90 minutes during the scheduled session Transportation: Children will walk in a group from the Grandview Church building, accompanied by a minimum of two approved Grandview ministry personnel. Children will be supervised at all times by trained, approved Grandview ministry personnel.

* Offsite trips to McSpadden Park Details: Location: McSpadden Park, 2125 Victoria Drive, Vancouver Dates: During some 2026/27 Children's Ministry sessions on Sundays between 10:30am-12:30pm Time: for 30-90 minutes during the scheduled session Transportation: Children will walk in a group from the Grandview Church building, accompanied by a minimum of two approved Grandview ministry personnel. Children will be supervised at all times by trained, approved Grandview ministry personnel.

I do NOT give my consent for my child(ren) to go off-site to McSpadden Park.

* Offsite trips to il Mondo Cafe & Gelato Details: Location: il Mondo Cafe & Gelato, 1858 Commercial Dr, Vancouver Dates: During some 2026/27 Children's Ministry sessions on Sundays between 10:30am-1pm or after the worship service with a small group of children & ministry personnel Time: for 30-60 minutes during the scheduled session Transportation: Children will walk in a group from the Grandview Church building, accompanied by a minimum of two approved Grandview ministry personnel. Children will be supervised at all times by trained, approved Grandview ministry personnel.

* Offsite trips to the backyards of 2016 East 3rd Ave and 2022 East 3rd Ave Details: These trips apply only to the grades 5-7 Wanderers class. Location: Backyards of 2016 and 2022 East 3rd Ave, Vancouver Dates: During some 2026/27 Children Ministry sessions on Sundays between 10:30am-12:30pm. Time: for 30-90 minutes during the scheduled session Transportation: Children will walk in a group from the Grandview Church building, accompanied by approved Grandview ministry personnel. Children will be supervised at all times by trained, approved Grandview ministry personnel.

Youth Communication Consent

A) All Youth event details, schedule updates, and announcements will be sent in group emails or group chats where parents/guardians are always included. This makes sure everyone stays in the loop on what's happening.

B) Sometimes, youth may want to share something privately with a leader — including questions about faith, life struggles, or prayer requests, etc. In this situation, conversations may happen without parents copied, but they will be conducted through a church-monitored email or through other text/phone calls which the Grandview lead pastor, Monica McKinlay, or another trusted adult leader can have access to for accountability.

If this private communication happens in person, the leader will ensure that the meeting takes place in a public or semi-public setting where others can easily observe, and that the lead pastor is informed beforehand and aware of the meeting for accountability and support purposes.

EXCEPTIONS: The leader will promptly inform parents (and, if needed, the proper authorities) if the leader learns that a youth may be in danger, may harm themselves or others, or is experiencing abuse or neglect

C) Grandview Youth Ministry has a Text/WhatsApp group for those who choose to join. The group includes interested youth, Pastor Monica, and the Youth Pastor. While the chat is mostly unmoderated, it’s intended to be a space where youth can connect, share updates, encourage one another, and build community together.
